AIM FOR THE MOON AND YOU MIGHT LAND AMONG THE STARS!
World Space Week (WSW) is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of human condition. It is celebrated every year from 4th – 10th October as per the declaration of United Nations (UN).
The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), being the national space agency of the Government of Pakistan has been organizing World Space Week activities in Pakistan since 2005.
The theme of WSW 2019 was “The moon: Gateway to the Stars”. In order to promote this theme, SUPARCO organized a Space Fair on Sunday October 6th 2019 encompassing different activities. The focal point of the competition was to create awareness amongst students, decision makers and the general public about the peaceful uses of outer-space, the benefits of space-based assets to humanity.
Our student Mustafa Mohsin Pishori of Grade 10 O Level eagerly participated in the Water Rocket competition.
He tested four different designs in school to achieve the required range of 80m.
In this adventurous journey, Mustafa learned the skill of designing a rocket, stressing upon the aerodynamics and the impact of pressure on the flight of the rocket.
We look forward to more such competitions in future to probe creativity among the students.
